Arts & Sciences Core Requirements
Forty eight (48) hours in courses from the College of Arts & Sciences are required by the Cook School for all business majors.

English: Nine hours as follows:
|ENGL 190: Strategies of Rhetoric & Research||3|
|ENGL 202, 220, 230, 240, 260, or Foreign Language Literature||3|
|English Literature, ENGL 400 (highly recommended), or Fine & Performing Arts *||3|
* Upper division foreign language may be substituted; however, students for whom English is a second language may not complete requirements in their native language.
Communication: Three hours as follows:

Social Sciences: Twelve hours as follows:
|HIST 111 or HIST 112: Origins of the Modern World||3|
|PSY 101: General Psychology||3|
|Two additional courses selected from: African American Studies, American Studies, History, Political Science, Sociology, or Women’s Studies||6|
Mathematics & Natural Sciences: Twelve hours as follows:
|MATH 120: College Algebra *||3|
|MATH 132: Survey of Calculus **||3|
|One Natural Science Course||3|
|One additional approved Math or Natural Science course||3|
* Students exempt from MATH 120 must replace the course with another approved math course
** Course Requirement must be met by the end of sophomore year or students will not be allowed to register for any business classes; MATH 142 (Calculus 1) or higher level calculus course may be substituted.
