Areas of Emphasis

graduate-business-areas-emphasis-one-year

An area of emphasis is noted on the transcript and indicates proficiency of knowledge in that area.

The MBA is intended to be an advanced general management degree. Therefore, the MBA curriculum includes as many as six to nine elective hours as a degree requirement. Students may decide to concentrate the electives in a particular area of study to create an area of emphasis. However, it may serve some students better to consider using the electives to round out their business expertise rather than focusing their study in one or more areas of emphasis.

Pick an emphasis that fits you.

Each area of emphasis requires specific course work. Please note that a course may not be applied as a requirement for more than one area of emphasis. Courses outside the John Cook School of Business require permission from the instructor and petition approval.
