Saint Louis University’s Center for Entrepreneurship Presents the Winners of the 2017 Angels in the Outfield Pitch Deck Competition
The 2017 Angels in the Outfield pitch deck competitions winners were selected this past weekend during the final round of the competition. High school students from around the world submitted their ideas for the competition by video, and the top 10 finalists presented their ideas live to a panel of all-star judges at Gateway Grizzlies ballpark.
The 2017 Allsup High School Entrepreneurship Summer Academy, hosted by the Center for Entrepreneurship at the John Cook School of Business, kicks off July 24-28. This year’s group of high school students will have the opportunity to grow and learn from their peers, meet industry experts from the St. Louis community and collaborate with SLU faculty and staff.
As part of an ongoing collaboration to foster the next generation of business and technology leaders, John Cook School of Business at Saint Louis University is partnering with Deloitte and the SAP® University Alliance for the accounting information systems course.
Saint Louis University Center for Entrepreneurship Diamonds Accelerator Welcomes Spring Semester Cohort
On February 28 the Saint Louis University Blue Diamond Accelerator program welcomed two new students as part of the Spring semester cohort. During a meet and greet reception, Fred Pestello, Ph.D., president of Saint Louis University, welcomed the new students and paid homage to the legacy of pioneering and entrepreneurship that built Saint Louis University. Following his message, the new and current Blue Diamonds each shared a brief overview of their project or existing business.
The John Cook School of Business recently completed construction on a new data analytics lab with a naming gift commitment from Edward Jones. The room will feature 12 Bloomberg terminals, the ability for students to use laptop computers and can be configured for use as a flipped classroom where content is often delivered online outside of the classroom and in classroom time is utilized to expand on those concepts. Students taking finance courses will use the Bloomberg terminals as part of their coursework. Additionally, the lab will be a key component in the FIN 4630 Applied Portfolio Management course and the Master of Science in Applied Finance and Economics (MS-AFE) program.

The John Cook School of Business welcomes guest speaker Ronald Kruszewski, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer, Stifel Financial Corp. for the Dean’s Breakfast Series on Thursday, Sept. 8. The Dean’s Breakfast begins at 7:30 a.m. with a complimentary networking breakfast, and Mr. Kruszewski’s presentation will begin at 8 a.m. in the Cook School’s A-B Auditorium. Heather Bednarek, Ph.D., has been named the new associate dean of the John Cook School of Business. Bednarek assumed her new role beginning July 1. In addition to her role as associate dean, Dr. Bednarek is an associate professor in economics and previously served as the chair of the department of economics from 2011 to 2016. She has been a faculty member at Saint Louis University for 15 years.
The 12th annual Allsup Entrepreneurship Academy hosted by the John Cook School of Business Center for Entrepreneurship begins Monday, July 25. High school students interested in learning about what it means to be an entrepreneur can meet successful business owners, create and pitch their own business ideas, collaborate on teams and more – are invited to register.
The John Cook School of Business Center for Entrepreneurship recently hosted the third annual Chasing the Sun event where high school students from around the world team to solve problems. Each team presents the next with a set of problems to solve and the receiving team is tasked with developing entrepreneurial business solutions for those problems. Only 12 students from the St. Louis area were invited to participate in this elite event.
(ST. LOUIS – April 28, 2016) – Saint Louis University (SLU) and Logan University have entered into a unique agreement that will allow Logan students to take courses toward earning a SLU business certificate or degree while earning their Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) degree. The articulation and matriculation agreement is the first of its kind, giving DC students enrolled at Logan the advantage of gaining essential practice management skills from one of the most highly ranked business programs in the country.
