John Cook School of Business Department of Accounting Hosts Annual Meet the Firms Night

The John Cook School of Business department of accounting recently hosted the annual Meet the Firms Night event.  Cook School accounting students attended the event, where they had the opportunity to network with representatives of firms and companies that heavily recruit our graduates.  Students can use this time to learn about career opportunities, ask about internships and about potential career paths within these organizations.

The event also gives the department the opportunity to reach out to younger accounting majors and those who have not yet decided upon a discipline in accounting by providing speakers from the areas of public accounting, private industry, and not-for-profit organizations.  Each speaker provides information about their chosen career path, as well as the opportunities and challenges they have faced.  Students can then engage in a question/answer session with the panel of speakers. This year’s panel featured representatives from KPMG, BKD, Deloitte, Edward Jones, the Archdiocese of St. Louis, Carrolton Bank and CliftonLarsonAllen.

Lastly, the event recognizes Cook School accounting students who have been awarded scholarships in the past year, as well as the firms, companies, and individuals who have sponsored the scholarships. These individuals and organizations included:

The Cook School’s undergraduate and graduate accounting programs are ranked in the top 25 by U.S. News & World Report. Additionally, the Cook School’s accounting programs have received separate AACSB accreditation, the premier accrediting body of business schools around the world.
