SLU Hosts Annual International Business Summer Academy

Saint Louis University welcomed 23 high school students from Missouri, Illinois and California on June 17 for the International Business Summer Academy.

To kick off the week, the students attended a class presentation about “Going Global” with an overview of Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and Europe given by international business executives.

Following that, students went on company tours, starting with Monsanto where they learned about global operations, and later, Lambert International Airport for an overview of efforts to expand global contracts and networks.

On Friday, students will attend an international business class taught by the school’s faculty: Nitish Singh, Ph.D., Hadi Alhorr, Ph.D., and Mamoun Benmamoun, Ph.D. Later that afternoon, they will compete in the Amazing Race, completing challenges about Brazil, India, Lebanon, China, Germany, Australia and Mexico before they receive a clue to find their next country.

The academy will close Friday evening with an awards ceremony and dinner welcoming the students’ families.

This International Business Summer Academy for high school students is sponsored by the Boeing Institute of International Business in the John Cook School of Business at Saint Louis University. For more information, contact biib@slu.edu or 314-977-3898.
