Saint Louis University Alumna Grace Bonoma Receives 2015 NACWAA Rising Star Award
The National Association of Collegiate Women Athletics Administrators (NACWAA) announced the 2015 Rising Star and Judith M. Sweet Commitment Award recipients. Saint Louis University alumna, Grace Bonoma was named a Rising Star Award winner. Bonoma is a recent graduate of Saint Louis University and received a minor in sports business.
The Rising Star Award is presented to undergraduate or graduate students, interns or volunteers who aspire to a career in intercollegiate athletics, and recognizes involvement and leadership roles on a campus, in a conference office or organization and in the community. The Commitment Award recognizes an athletics administrator below the senior ranking level who is committed to providing high-level leadership and guidance within intercollegiate athletics, goes beyond the call of duty, and provides outstanding service to their department, conference office, or organization.
Bonoma had an accomplished volleyball career at Saint Louis University and has continued her work in college athletics as Athletics Administration Intern at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she is responsible for working closely with the Associate Athletic Director of Finance and Director of Season Ticket Sales.
“I rank her among the best students we have had in our institution,” said her nominator, Dr. Anastasios Kaburakis, assistant professor of management and sports business at the Cook School. “Grace has an unmatched work ethic, which is the one element that can make her prosperous in the profession of her choice. Grace is methodical, well organized, and pays attention to the simple things that count, the fundamental details on which she can build to proceed to a superior level of competitive performance.”
Award recipients will also receive scholarships to attend the 2015 NACWAA National Convention, October 11-13 in Tampa Bay, Fla. The National Convention is the premier conference for women working in intercollegiate athletics, offering unparalleled leadership and professional development, industry training and networking opportunities.
