Center for Entrepreneurship SLU Tank Pitch Competition Makes a Splash
Recently the SLU Center for Entrepreneurship hosted the first SLU Tank event – a pitch competition where area high school students had a chance to present their brilliant business ideas. The contestants were given one minute to pitch their ideas to the sharks (our judges) – if they were a hit, they received cash, if they missed the mark they were splashed in our dunk tank.
High school students from 11 area schools participated, with students in their freshman year to graduated seniors. The big winners from the event were:
Nora Brooks, Ursaline Academy - NB3 Personalized Gifts - Ursuline Academy
Eric Berg, St. Louis University High School - TriSkate Skateboards
The judges for the event were Martha Uhlhorn, owner and president of La Bonne Bouchee Wholesale Bakery and Gourmet to Go; Maxine Clark, founder of Build-A-Bear Workshop; Bill Menke - executive vice president and COO of Wehrenberg Theaters; Sylvester Chisom, owner of Showroom Shine Express Detailing and author of Young Entrepreneurs Guide to Success 2.0.
