Seung Kim, Ph.D., Receives Inaugural St. Louis International Ambassador Award
St. Louis Regional International Partnership Honors Dr. Kim for his Outstanding Commitment to Global Business Education
May 7, 2014, ST. LOUIS - Seung Kim, Ph.D., director of the Boeing Institute of International Business in the John Cook School of Business at Saint Louis University, will be presented with the first St. Louis International Ambassador Award by the St. Louis Regional International Partnership at their 2014 St. Louis International Trade Night Dinner on Wednesday, May 7. This award was created in recognition of the 250th birthday of the City of St. Louis. Dr. Kim was selected as the first honoree due to his years of dedicated service developing global business education programs, professional events, and opportunities for Saint Louis University, St. Louis, and the Midwest region.
Dr. Kim is director of the Boeing Institute of International Business in the John Cook School of Business at Saint Louis University and the Paul G. Lorenzini Endowed Professor of International Business. He has been succeeding at academic and scholarly pursuits for over 40 years. As the founder and director of the Boeing Institute, he has served as a visionary and leader in the field of international business. A pioneer in the advancement of international business as a field of study, Dr. Kim has authored or co-authored seven books. His scholarly articles have been published in over 30 highly respected, refereed journals. He also contributes to the discipline through the academic journal The Multinational Business Review, which he has published since 2003 as Editor-In-Chief.
He has also been extremely committed to professional service through area global organizations as a founding member of several and holding top leadership positions in many. This includes the World Trade Center St. Louis (which he helped found in 1993, and served as Chairman from 1998-2003); the Missouri District Export Council, appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Commerce; the World Affairs Council; the World Agricultural Forum; and the Korean-American Finance Association. He has been a Fellow with the Korea Institute for International Trade and Investment, and was appointed by the Governor of Missouri to chair the Missouri Leadership Council in International Business.
His pursuit of the expansion of global business extends beyond the classroom. He has served as a consultant for multinational companies and international banks. Through the Boeing Institute of International Business, he assures the availability of global business information and ideas by hosting or co-sponsoring with area partners numerous global business events and seminars for the region’s business, civic, and government communities.
This award joins many others that he has received throughout his distinguished career. To name a few, he has received Outstanding Faculty Member of the Year (John Cook School of Business), Outstanding Teacher of the Year (Beta Gamma Sigma), numerous public recognitions, such as the Korean Presidential Medal of Honor, and now the first St. Louis International Ambassador Award.
Dr. Kim attended the Seoul National University Law School and received his MBA and Ph.D. from New York University Stern Business School.
