Boeing Distinguished Guest Lecture

His Excellency Gary Doer, Ambassador of Canada to the United States, will be the speaker at the 2014 Boeing Distinguished Guest Lecture in International Business at 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, at Saint Louis University’s John Cook School of Business. The event is sponsored by SLU’s Boeing Institute of International Business.
Ambassador Doer will present “U.S.-Canada Economic and Political Opportunities.” Canada is the largest trading partner of the United States (U.S. Census Bureau Foreign Trade Report) and Missouri’s largest export market (www.trade.gov).
The program will be held in the Anheuser-Busch Auditorium at SLU’s John and Lucy Cook Hall, 3674 Lindell Blvd. The event is free and open to the public, however registration is required. About Ambassador Gary Doer
Gary Doer assumed the role as Canada’s 23rd representative to the United States of America in 2009. Prior to that, he served as Premier of Manitoba for 10 years. During that time, he worked extensively with U.S. governors to enhance Canada-U.S. cooperation on trade, agriculture, water protection, climate change and renewable energy. Ambassador Doer won three consecutive elections as Premier of Manitoba with successive increased majorities.
In 2005, he was named by Business Week magazine as one of the top 20 international leaders on climate change. His government introduced balanced budgets during each of his 10 years in office while reducing many taxes, including a plan to eliminate small business tax. As Premier, he led strategic investments in health care, education, training and infrastructure. He serves from the Embassy of Canada in Washington, DC, to strengthen and manage the diverse and complex Canada-U.S. relationship.
