Congratulations to SLU’s Austin Smith and the Principia team on Winning MasterCard Masters of Code Regional Competition
Austin Smith, a junior at Saint Louis University studying entrepreneurship at the John Cook School of Business, is moving on to the national competition of MasterCard Masters of Code. Austin’s team, including several students from Principia College, won the St. Louis region by prototyping and developing a mobile fan-experience app called FanFare in just 24 hours, and now moves on to San Francisco to represent the St. Louis Region.
Students from John Cook School of Business Graduate program will travel to Omaha, Nebraska this weekend where they will meet Warren Buffett, CEO of Berkshire Hathaway. During the course of their visit our students from the One-Year MBA, Evening MBA, and Specialized Graduate Degree programs will be able to gain knowledge from Mr. Buffett with a question and answer session and tour of a Berkshire Hathaway property, Nebraska Furniture Mart. The Cook School recently hosted a round table dialogue about business’ role in fostering the common good with the initiator and facilitator of this dialogueSister Simone Campbell, the executive director of NETWORK National Catholic Social Justice Lobby.
Saint Louis University’s Sports Business Summer Academy at the John Cook School of Business is a four day program that provides rising high school juniors and seniors with a glimpse as to how the business of sports operates. Students are mentored by faculty of the Cook School of Business and attend presentations from prominent business members of the St. Louis sporting industry, in order to learn about the basic fundamentals of sports business.
SLU 101 is Saint Louis University’s summer orientation program. During this two-day orientation, students will bond with fellow members of their incoming class, meet with their academic advisors who will help them register for fall courses, get a glimpse of college life by spending a night in a freshman residence hall, learn about campus resources, extracurricular activities and organizations, and best of all have all their questions answered from upper-class student leaders. Emily Alcorn is one of twenty SLU 101 leaders and is a proud representative of the Cook School of Business. As Emily enters her junior year she reflects upon her SLU 101 experience as a participant and as a leader.
