Institute for Private Business Members Get a "Teach and Tour" at TechShop

This March, Institute for Private Business members were invited to attend March’s “Teach and Tour” at TechShop, a creative community with open access to DIY tools including 3D printing tech, fabrication tools, and design software. Our members took a tour of the facility before hearing from Daniel Fort, the founder of Defiance Whiskey, and his father, Garth Fort. Daniel told his story of how he got the idea for Defiance, how the name came to be, and what the future of Defiance holds.

There were about 25 IPB members and several students there in attendance. Everyone also left with a custom-engraved Defiance Whiskey whiskey glass engraved right at TechShop on one of the in-house laser etching machines!

Our Institute for Private Business (IPB), formed by the Cook School’s Center for Entrepreneurship, is a member-driven organization committed to delivering resources that are relevant to the needs of family businesses and other closely held businesses. The institute offers interactive seminars, educational forums, newsletters, peer groups, and networking opportunities to member businesses.
