The Department of Accounting has held a longstanding tradition of preparing our students to succeed in the professional world. The Cook School has developed an accounting program that helps students meet their full potential. As such, we have seen multiple students receive recognition and honors regarding their CPA examination.


Chris Tkach, Master of Accounting 2010

Chris Tkach, a recent Cook School master’s program alumnus, was presented the prestigious 2010 Elijah Watt Sells Award from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. The award recognizes the top 10 individuals with the highest cumulative scores on all four sections of the computerized Uniform CPA Examination.


Alexandra Kersting, B.S.B.A. Concentration in Accounting 2011 

Alexandra Kersting, Cook School undergraduate student, was recognized by the Missouri Society of CPAs for her performance in passing all sections on the CPA on her first attempt.

Meet The Firms Night

Each year the Department of Accounting hosts our annual Meet the Firms Night.  This event gives students the opportunity to network with potential employers, as well as to hear presentations from practicing professionals in numerous disciplines of accounting.  The event gives students an excellent opportunity to meet representatives from businesses in public accounting, private industry, and not-for profit sectors, as well as to hear from presenters what it is like to work in each of these industries.  To review the businesses and speakers who attend this event, please see:
