Pitch and Catch
The Saint Louis University Center for Entrepreneurship’s Pitch and Catch Competition is now open!
All college students are invited to enter by submitting a video of their investor pitch using the guidelines below, and submit it to us by Monday, March 28th, 11:59pm (CST).
A panel of judges will select the top 10 investor pitch submissions. The top 10 will have the opportunity to present their pitch deck at the Final Round on Sunday, April 24th at the Gateway Grizzlies ballpark where they will pitch from the pitcher’s mound with their PowerPoint presentation cast on the center field jumbotron to a panel of rockstar judges that include multi-million dollar investors.
First place wins $5,000 and an opportunity to pitch to the Billiken Angel Network. Second place wins $3,000. Third place wins $1,000. All three win an all-inclusive weekend in St. Louis where we will introduce you to the who’s who and what’s what in the Saint Louis entrepreneurship/investment scene including the folks at Arch Grants, Cultivation Capital, Capital Innovators, Stadia Ventures, etc.
Here’s how to apply:
Use the template (click here to view) to create your pitch deck, which consists of the following slides:
Title - Name of your organization/company/idea, your name
Problem - Describe the pain that you’re alleviating. The goal is to get everyone nodding and “buying in.”
Solution - Explain how you alleviate this pain. Ensure that the audience clearly understands what you sell and your value proposition.
Business Model - Explain how you make money and who pays you.
Industry Trends - Tell us what industry you’re in and what the future trends look like. Are there two potential customers or are there three billion?
Competition - Provide a complete view of the competitive landscape and how you are better than what’s there already.
Closing - Make your ask - are you looking for an investment, connections, mentorship, etc? - tell the judges “thank you,” and show your name again.
Make a 7-minute video of yourself presenting your pitch deck with the slides showing as well. Both you and your presentation slides must be in the video.
Upload your video to YouTube and send a private or unlisted link to email@example.com with your name, company/idea name, school, and year in school by Monday, March 28th, at 11:59pm (CST).
