"Do Good. Do Well."

Entrepreneurs display concern for the good of the larger society in their role, through good work (“do good”), helping others or support of educational, civic, social or charitable activities. They also display organizational or financial success (“do well”) and achieve relative to those in their chosen setting. At the Cook School, these values are the root of our entrepreneurial education and center.

Leadership

National Recognition

The Center and its staff have won over a dozen awards for excellence in education and service to the entrepreneurs, entrepreneurship organizations, and communities.

Winner: National Model Program Award by United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (1995)

Winner: Outstanding Contributions to Advance the Discipline of Entrepreneurship Award from the National Consortium of Entrepreneurship Centers (2006)

Bright Idea Grant Program

St. Louis University’s Bright Idea Grants (BIG) program awards grants of up to $2,000 to Saint Louis University students to help make a reality their innovative ideas that solve social issues. The BIG program has identified six social issues that are the most critical both worldwide, and in St. Louis.

Requirements

To qualify for the award, student team ideas with must fall into one of the following six categories:

Youth development, e.g. coaching sports
Innovative ideas to help us journey toward a cleaner sustainable future
Ideas that help to improve the quality of life for others
Assistance to others who are in need of food and shelter
Help to develop the living area of a community
Using knowledge to help solve problems for all of humanity
